Conference Centre 14
Thursday, April 29th, 2010When choosing a conference venue for your business, consider how it will impact on your brand name. What is the content and the emotion you want the people left with? A lot of conferences look at function over Panache when selecting a venue but how does this reflect your content for the conference?
Both your brand & the members impressions should be considered. If you are trying to convey importance, change, growth etc then consider how your conference centre reflects this. What about Flair? Don’t hold a conference about quality at a cheap venue.
From the second the visitors get there, what is their first impression? Panache, elegance, high tech? It will set the platform for the conference. The surroundings will influence the work that goes on at a conference. Do you need external ‘break out’ areas? How are you reconciling these? Even the sounds within a conference centre will have a subtle influence on the members. Tiles sound very different underfoot to carpet.
Emotions are brought to the surface by smells & things we hear. We draw on our own experiences. As people are parking their vehicles what is their experience? Is it a dingy laneway or does it need to be better than that? Is good quality food important? Does it send the wrong content? Is it sensational? If the conference is about cutbacks you probably don’t want to convey extravagance. How is the venue selection influenced by this?
