EXTRACTIONS

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

The other day we were having dinner at a BBQ restaurant for my Dad’s birthday, I was sure to order the spicy sauce for the wife and I share. (Spicy stuffs supposed to help get induce labor) After dinner we went back to my parents house for some Cribbage and movies. Half way through our card game she started feeling some strange pains, pains that she said she hadn’t felt before. Contractions? They were real quick, inconsistent, and sharp. We decided we better head home. After my wife changed out of her “Citizen” jeans and into some sweat pants…we discovered that the spicy food that we were hoping might bring contractions, since this what my wife’s friends said had worked for them, as well as some other people that we have talked to. There has to be some magical safe potion that you can take, to make our wonderful babies want to come out and play.

This is the 21st century and we still have nothing but to wait, I wonder if back one hundred years ago women had much larger families up to 15 kids in some cases, you wonder how they did it?They had an average of about one child a year and had no major complications, and it was nothing but normal, I wonder what they diet was like.

Guide to Wooden Flooring

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

If you are debating whether wooden flooring is right for your home it’s important that you have an understanding what the various wood terms mean. There are huge array of online flooring retailers, and its important to understand there are multiple factors which determine how wood looks, and makes each wooden floor look different from another. It is very unlikely that the wooden floor you saw in the showroom or on the internet will look exactly the same as when it’s fitted in your home.

Part of the appeal of hardwood floors is that they are all unique. One factor which effects the appearance of the wood is how close the wood is to the bark of the tree, this is called sapwood. The closer to the outside of the tree, the paler the wood will appear. The grain of the wood is another major factor, this can vary is direction and also varies in appearance depending on the colour of the wood fibers. The growth rings of the tree are also a significant factor which effect how the wood looks. Tightly packed layers of wood are likely to result in a darker colour, these are formed when only a marginal layer of wood is added per year during a growing season. Other factors which can have an effect on the wood are mineral Streaks. These occur when trace elements are in the water, resulting in grey and olive markings. Knots are also a big factor in the appearance of your flooring, and are produced where branches of a tree have been encased, as the tree has grown. Often lower grade flooring will have more knots in it than higher grade.

The great thing about wooden flooring is its durability, and also the ease with which damage can be repaired. But because it is a natural product, as opposed to synthetic, it is also prone to expand and contract during changes in the weather or season. This needs to be taken into account when your floor is fitted.

Character = Integrity.

Friday, November 28th, 2008

Without character, the puzzle of achieving success falls apart. It is most important of all pieces to life’s puzzle. Without character, you can make money. But it will be worthless to you and to those around you. Look out in the world today: drug dealers and con artists have moneybut they lack character.

If you go to all the work of achieving success, you don’t want to mar it with a lack of character that will make people pity you as you age and become less than you were intended to be.

Character equals integrity. Integrity is doing the right thing all the time, even when no one else is watching. You don’t have anything to fear when your integrity is in tact, because you have nothing to hide. You experience no guilt and no fear. And without those two traveling companions, it’s much easier to climb higher and farther, faster!

What does this mean in a practical sense? It means that you will put the right philosophy (the golden rule) in to practice in all that you do. You will not step on someone else to climb the corporate ladder; you will not stack bodies in order to reach the CEO position that you desire. You will treat people with respect, honesty, and trust. You will behave towards others how you want (and expect) them to behave towards you.

You will be the model of “doing the right thing” in your office, even if it isn’t appreciated or understood. Chances are very good that if you’re the only one doing the right thing, you won’t last where you are, but you will find something better where your integrity is appreciated and applauded.

Character realizes that the most important things in life are not office- or work-based. They are family and a sense of responsibility to that family. Character will not sacrifice your family on the altar of “I’ve got to finish this project,” nor will it tell you children, “Maybe next time, hon,” when asked to play catch.

Your character will shine through as you put your family before your work, as you purposefully schedule time with them (and then keep those appointments you put in your planner), as you “date” your spouse and remember why it is you got married in the first place, and as you set an example that your spouse and children can be proud of.

The most important thing to remember as you consider character is that your children will grow up to be just like you. John Maxwell once said, “We teach what we know; we reproduce who we are.” So as a person who is full of integrity and character, you will reproduce those same traits in your children as you climb towards success in your life. And isn’t that really what it’s all about, anyhow?

Versatility and Productivity

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

Microsoft Excel is still a powerful tool on the market because of its versatility. Almost any type of project can be built whether you are a beginner or an Excel wizard.

Whether it is a simple calendar or a call forecasting model for a customer service company, Excel provides every time.

Excel has a huge market; there is always someone out there who requires a product of some type or description.

Now my question to you

How often do you click on that little green X in your program files?

I’m sure I know the answer from most of you proficient users, but what about everyone else.

If you have never really taken to using Excel in your business or home, now is the time to shake of those virtual mothballs and learn. Within a short time you should start to gain confidence and realize how such a simple program can make some of your more difficult, time-consuming processes very easy.

Some of you may feel uncomfortable about taking up the challenge of learning something new. My suggestion is to look on the Internet or buy a book on Excel that includes little projects on building spreadsheets. This way you can be safe knowing you have a guide to help you through your learning experience.

WILL THE UNIVERSE COMMIT SUICIDE?

By Arthur Zulu

Once upon a time, there lived a madman who wanted to die a horrible death. He thought of two options for the final exit. Option one: Make a gigantic camp fire hotter than the sun and jump into it. Option two: Dive into a sub zero degree ice and bury himself with glacier. Either of the choices seemed appealing to him.

But hold on, before you think that this is a folk story from Mars. The story may soon play out, say some school of thought, who believe it is the world’s fate.

Only that the characterization is wrong. Because the
madman is not the human race but the universe. And
mankind has no choice. The universe will decide which
is a better choice–fire or ice. Either choice is period
for life.

How did we come to have such destiny?

It is because of how the universe started, they say. And how did the universe begin?

Scientists believe that in the beginning, space was one small dense point. Then suddenly this singularity expanded at a terrifying speed, spewing out gigantic stars and galaxies, and has continued to race to Heaven knows only where, ever after.

As to how life eventually began, well, this is biology made easy. Out of this non-living world, someday a micro-organism sprang out of one warm chemical soup in the ocean. And by
some kind of clever maneuvering, yielded the abundant
variety of living species today, including man. Interesting
story.

Now, it does not matter whether you believe this story or not. Or whether you even fully understand. In fact you are
not supposed to understand it. So, the ignorant you are, the better.

You know that these things happened billions of years ago.
And in those times, before man learnt to write, things
happened spontaneously. Just like that, without any outside
help.

They are not called miracles because scientists don’t live in a world of miracles. Call one the Big Bang, and the other, Evolution. That would suffice.

The scientists are, therefore, saying that the world would end just the why it began. In this case it may either be a bang, or murmur.

Take the first scenario — the inflation theory. If the universe began by expansion, and has since been stretching out, the believe is that someday, the universe will stretch itself out. And by that time, gases sustaining it would have been sucked out, and the universe will grow dark, cold and unbearable.

The man on earth will not find it funny. Without sun, the vegetation will die, and man starving from hunger and air,
unused to such conditions, will start dropping dead, leaving
the dogs to keep watch.

But they would not even be able to play the watchdog for hey would follow their masters soon. Maybe a few polar animals used to surviving in sub zero temperatures may tarry for a while. And follow later.

The second scenario is the deflation theory. Some imagine
that one day, the universe will stop its expansion to outer
space, and race back to where it began — collapse on itself!

Now, imagine all the billion stars and galaxies colliding unto themselves, and try to figure out how big the fire will be.
The fiery furnace will just lick the earth’s water in nanoseconds, and life will vanish in the great conflagration.

So, life may go either way say scientists — what a frightening prospect! And it will happen on the day that the natural forces decide to go mad. And when the universe goes bonkers, not even our planet can save us.

In fact, stars have been exploding and colliding with one another in bizarre space, and no news is made of it. And
that is because no lives are involved. But on the day that
the earth will freeze or explode in fire, there will be
funeral songs and the death drums would sound.

There are funerals, though, when there are survivors. On this day, however, there will be no survivors to compose elegies, or sound funeral drums.

Take comfort though. That day may be long in coming.

House Cleaning By Commercial Cleaning Companies

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

With the demise of ‘the woman down the road’ many people are finding it difficult to find a domestic cleaner. This cleaner traditionally would not just be a cleaner but would probably do the washing up, ironing and ‘tidier upper’. These people, invariably woman would be paid a minimal amount and expected to stay for between 3 – 4 hours. They would use the equipment available in the household together with any cleaning products supplied by the householder.

With girls now outperforming boys academically and the majority now having much higher expectations than previous generations this pool of domestic cleaners is drying up. Consequently many people are now turning to commercial cleaning companies to meet their needs. However their mindset towards domestic cleaners has not changed to any great degree.

Some companies specialise in supplying domestic cleaners to meet the customer’s requirements. Other contract cleaning companies have seen the opportunities now available in the domestic market and have branched out into that sector. Traditionally these firms have costed their work by the task and not per hour. So when quoting for a domestic clean they give an amount they require for doing the job. If this is a one off clean then it is not normally a problem. However if it is a weekly clean it can cause problems. The householder knows how long it takes to clean their house, because they have done it. So they have an idea of how long they would like the cleaners to be working for. Invariably if two people are cleaning you can be in and out within an hour. The comment from the householder will often be ‘you finished already?’ Implying that you could not have possibly done the job properly.

What domestic customers fail to realise is that they are now bringing in professional cleaners. These are people who have experience, skills and knowledge built up over several years. They will also be using their own equipment and cleaning products which by and large will be superior to branded products from the super market. As a result they will clean much faster than the average person. This applies to most jobs. We may all be able to do some of them but rarely as quickly and efficiently as someone who actually does it for a job.

So if you hire in a contract cleaning company to carry out your domestic cleaning remember you are getting professional cleaners not the ‘little woman’ from down the road.

FEAR NOT THEM

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Psalm 23 verse 4: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

Luke 12 verses 4 and 5: “And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.”

Matthew 10 verse 28 “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

James 4 verses 13 and 14 “Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain. Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”

Are you prepared to meet your Maker?

Using Feng Shui to Embody Your Inspiration

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Who inspires you, who makes you envious? The answers will
help you design your life!

If there’s someone who inspires you, or someone you envy –
that is your heart giving you a clue as to what you want
more of in your life. These questions will help you embody
your inspiration.

1. Who inspires you?

2. What is it about their life that resonates most
strongly? Is it what they are doing, or is it how they are
being?

3. What could you do to incorporate more of this into your
life?

4. The Helpful People & Travel area of your home or office
is a good place to put symbols of people who inspire you.
It could be a photograph, you could place their name on a
piece of paper in a silver box, use an example of their
work, or place something symbolic there.

5. The Children & Creativity area relates to projects and
creativity. Place a symbol of what this person represents
to you there.

6. The Knowledge & Self-Cultivation area represents
awareness and knowledge. Place a symbol of the inspiration
you would like to embody in this area of your home.

You can place these enhancements in that particular area of
your home, or of a room, such as your office or bedroom.
Those two rooms are where people usually spend the most
time, so will have a greatest impact on you.

For a visual representation of the various areas of the
Bagua, what they represent and how to find them in your
home, see:
http://www.LifeDesignStrategies.com/BaguaMap.html

Maximizing the Power of Your Enhancements

1. Get clear about what you want to create.

2. Make sure the area is clutter free.

3. Place your enhancements with intention – it makes them
much more powerful.

4. Make space for insights, awareness and creative ideas to
come to you. You can do this by taking time to just ‘be’ –
no errands, emails or to-dos!

Green Tea: Natures Miracle Heath Drink

Friday, November 21st, 2008

“Camellia Sinensis” or Green Tea is rich in Catechins, which are antioxidants. The best variety is said to originate from tea farms in China, especially those protected from pesticides. It is best to drink pure green tea without preservatives or other artificial flavors.

Teas have been found to have powerful effects on levels of cholesterol in the blood stream and on your health in general. Green tea in particular can also help in battling cancer. In Japan, it was discovered that drinking 10 or more cups of green tea daily delays the onset of cancer by some nine years among women and about three years in men.

Another source of good green tea is the high-grade tea sold at Japanese Tea Online. These are delicious teas and contain large amounts of polyphenols and flavoniods (catechins which are also immune system boosters), and natural vitamins and minerals. Catechins destroy free radicals. Green tea also has carotenoids, chlorophyll, polysaccharides natural vitamins C and E, manganese, potassium, and zinc, all essential to your health. Pure green tea is said to be 100 times more effective than vitamin C from other sources, and 25 times better than vitamin E from other sources.

You may find green tea mixed with other medicinal herbs in leading drug stores, but rarely can you find pure green tea sold alone. Green tea is usually sold in tea bags, but modern processing has made possible its liquefied form in bottles, and also its powdered form in sachet packages, without damaging its health and healing benefits.

Green tea and other natural food supplements carry micronutrients that feed your immune system and strengthen your body cells. When the immune system becomes stronger, tissue and cell repair is enhanced in a way that the body retains the ability to heal itself; thus, ailments and even serious diseases are healed. It is not the food supplement itself that heals, but the empowered immune system.

A Japanese monk, Eisai, wrote in 1211 AD that (green) tea is a miraculous medicine for the maintenance of health. “Tea has the extraordinary power to prolong life. Anywhere a person cultivates tea, long life will follow.”
Eisai further wrote that tea in general was known as an elixir that created the “immortal” mountain dwellers.

In the 16th century, European explorers were said to have found that tea, especially green tea, was used to treat fever, headache, joint pains, and stomachaches and some other health ailments.Green tea, according to modern nutritionists and herbal medicine experts, can help prevent high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes, heart ailments, skin diseases, and lung ailments. It actually delays the aging process. It eliminates distress by refreshing your mind and body.
